Wolves earn coaches' recognition

Five Wolves received All Conference honors in football, with three making All State, according to a list released by the Wyoming Coaches Association.

Erik Gwaltney, Kyle Ivie, Anthony Johnson, Anthony Mitchell and Caison Straw made the All-Conference list, while Johnson, Mitchell and Straw were named All State.

According to stats from Wyopreps.com, Gwaltney made 34 tackles throughout the season, making 17 assists and 13 solo tackles. He made two sacks, two tackles for lost yardage and one fumble recovery. As the team’s kicker, Gwaltney scored 14 extra points and was three for three with field goals.

Ivie averaged 30.9 yards per game, earning 247 total yards throughout the season. He scored three touchdowns for the Wolves. On the defensive side of the game, Ivie made 23 tackles throughout the year, making 14 assists and completing 9 solo tackles. He also deflected three passes during the season.

Johnson earned an average of 71.4 yards per game, amassing 571 yards during the season. He made four touchdowns throughout the season, while making 29 tackles for the Wolves’ defense. Of those tackles, 15 were assists and 14 were solo tackles. Johnson also made two fumble recoveries and interceptions throughout the season, while deflecting three passes.

Mitchell averaged 17.4 yards per game, earning a total of 139 yards. Mitchell lead the team’s tackling with 75 tackles, assisting 52 times and making 22 solo tackles. He made one tackle for a loss, scored two fumble recoveries throughout the season and blocked one kick attempt.

Straw, earned 34 tackles throughout the season, making 20 assists and 12 solo tackles. He made two tackles for a loss of yardage, one fumble recovery and one deflected pass.
