Swimmers take 2nd in conferences

The Lady Wolves Swimming team continues to improve their times each week.

This week was no different when they broke records and qualified another swimmer for state while at Conferences at Kelly Walsh High School.

Head coach Colleen Seiloff said Patience Bentley qualified for state, taking the total to 14 state qualifiers for the team.

“They swam really strong,” Seiloff said. “They were out there getting it done.”

The team came in second right behind Laramie, which were moved into Green River’s conference.

As for breaking records, Lady Wolves Lauren Jensen, Hailey Uhrig, Lauren Lee and Ashley Jensen broke the 200-yard medley relay conference record with a time of 1:53.55. Uhrig once again broke the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, L. Jensen, Alexa Lauze, L. Lee and S. Sanders broke the school record.

Sydni Sanders took first place in the 200-yard freestyle.

The Lady Wolves are gaining momentum and they will prepare for the last change meet, which is scheduled to take place Thursday in Green River. Seiloff said the diving portion of the competition starts at 1 p.m.

Seiloff is hoping a few more will qualify for state at the last chance meet.

“It would really be nice to get someone else,” she said.

With nearly 100 percent of the team dropping times, she thinks it’s possible. The last chance meet will also be the Lady Wolves senior night.
