Marks improve for GRHS cross country runners

The Green River High School cross country team continues seeing success in the meets it participates in.

Head coach Craig Leavitt said the team is running well, though he’s still working on getting enough girls to field a team during meets. For the girls, Leavitt said Kaisa Arnell and Madison Yoak continue to place high in the standings. During their meet in Salt Lake City Sept. 21, Arnell finished 53rd while Yoak took 68th in the race. Leavitt said the two continue improving their times, with Yoak recovering from illness she had during the Salt Lake City meet.

Leavitt said the boys continue posting better times as well, with all of them attaining a personal record during the Sept. 21 meet. Leavitt also said he brought Evin Hansen onto the varsity squad. Two seniors, Marcos Valerio and Tanner Adam lead the way for the rest of the team. Leavitt said he believes Valerio could finish the season with a top 10 finish at State, which he said is Valerio’s goal for the season Leavitt said Valerio greatly improves his times with each meet he competes in, with Adam not far behind Valerio.
