Lady Wolves defeat Lady Tigers last Thursday in RS

It took five sets for the Green River Lady Wolves to take down the Rock Springs Lady Tigers.

In an action-packed Lady Wolves volleyball game Thursday evening in Rock Springs, the Lady Wolves showed they had what it takes to defeat their rivals.

The Lady Wolves won three out of five sets, 25-16, 20-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-10.

"Getting the rivalry win is always exciting," head coach Rikki Shantz said. "The girls were proud."

Even though the Lady Wolves lost the second and third sets, they didn't let it get them down. They continued to dig deep and fight back.

"We had really strong leadership that kept the team together when times got tough," she said.

As for the rivalry crowd, the Lady Wolves were mentally prepared for the hype of the crowd.

"We were prepared for the energy and enthusiasm at those rival games," Shantz said. "I didn't see any indication that the girls let the crowd get to them."

During the sets, the Lady Wolves passed the ball pretty well, which helped the team have an efficient offense, Shantz said.

However, the team still needs to work on their serving game.

"We missed way too many serves," she said.

The team will use this victory to give them a boost for their next games against Mountain View on Thursday and Kelly Walsh on Saturday. The Wolves will have to travel to both of these games.

"Volleyball is a game of momentum and having that going in to next week is good," Shantz said. "The girls learned that they can fight back and what it means to play as a team."

Once again to prepare for their games, the team will work on serving and communicating with each other.

Even though Rock Springs is in the Lady Wolves' conference, they aren't in the teams quadrant. Teams in the Southwest conference are Star Valley, Evanston and Jackson.
