GR splash park remains busy

The Green River Splash Park was a busy place Monday morning.

With temperatures already in the upper 70s, several families brought their children to the Splash Park to cool off.

Some children were running through the splash park, while others decided the splash park just wasn't enough and proceeded to fill water balloons and water guns to either throw or spray at each other.

When the children would get cold, they would run and play on the playground equipment at Evers Park, which is only several feet away from the splash park.

Green River resident Tina Noel said the water is a good way to entertain the children. She said prior to their stop at the Splash Park, they were busy searching for painted rocks from the 307 Rocks group. The 307 Rocks group encourages residents to paint and hide their rocks for others to find. Those who find the rocks are encouraged to take a photo of where they found the rock and post it to its Facebook page.

"The girls always want to keep them," Noel said. "We're just down here to let them have fun."

Mother Kylee Johnson said she usually brings her children to the Splash Park about once a week during the summer.

"It's just a place to cool down," Johnson said. "You got a park and the water park."

She said when the kids get tired of either park they just run back and forth. She usually places her umbrella tent in between the two parks so she can watch them.

With temperatures forecasted to get into the 90s this week, the Splash Park is a good place to cool down.
