Resident vies for clerk

A Green River resident announced she will challenge incumbent Donnalee Bobak for Sweetwater County Clerk of District Court.

Annette Eychner, a Democrat, issued a campaign announcement last week.

"I made the decision to run for Clerk of District Court based on my strong desire to serve the residents of this county," she said in her announcement. "Public service, volunteerism and challenging occupations have been instrumental in my life."

She believes the staff is the backbone of the office and would like to implement positive changes to the office's daily operations. She also seeks to provide staff with necessary tools and training to be successful in their positions and advance their careers.

She started her career by owning and operating a successful business.

She then worked as a detention officer at the county detention center, working her way to the rank of sergeant. Eychner is employed by the State of Wyoming at District Court in Green River, also serving on the Trona Valley Federal Credit Union board of trustees.

Eychner is the district courts' record keeper, one of her primary functions is to provide administrative and file management support to the courts as mandated by state statute.

She believes the office needs a well-organized and committed leader who is strong, knowledgable and committed to public service.

She believes the leader should be able to identify deficiencies in the office and can bring effective and time-saving policies to the office. She also thinks the leader should be able to work cooperatively with county and state agencies and is fiscally responsible.

"With a solid background in business management, public service and a working knowledge of legal procedures, now is the right time for me to step forward and serve the residents of Sweetwater County," she said.

As the court prepares to introduce electronic filing, coupled with recent countywide budget cuts and hiring restrictions, Eychner said she will work alongside the staff to achieve a successful and demanding transition. She said she has the ability to quickly adapt and utilize file management systems to their fullest advantage.

"My leadership and organizational skills will bring about enhanced changes that will assist our judges and our legal community, ultimately benefiting our citizens," she said.

Eychner and her husband, Dan, reside in Green River, as do their three children and four grandchildren.

"I look forward to the coming campaign and meeting people from across our communities," she said.
