Bieber named Coach of the Year

The best season in Green River High School boys soccer history had ended with a 4A West Coach of the Year award for head coach Chris Bieber.

The award is Bieber’s third recognition as Coach of the Year, which comes from votes by other coaches in the conference.

“It’s always great when you’re recognized by your peers,” Bieber said.

Bieber said he believes the atmosphere he and the other coaches cultivate at GRHS is the main reason other coaches take notice of the Wolves. Bieber said the players are respectful of the other players, referees and coaches.

“Without the players, that award means nothing,” Bieber said. “It’s all about them.”

The team finished the conference with a 8-1-1 conference record. They won the Todd Malonek Southwest Invitational and the 4A West Regional tournament. The team finished third at state, the highest placement the soccer team has achieved.

The team had seven players named All-Conference and three named All-State. The team’s goalie, Patrick Marchal, was also recently named the Gatorade Wyoming Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
