The Lady Wolves soccer team's season ended Thursday night with a loss in overtime to Natrona County.
The loss at regionals will leave the Lady Wolves out of State, which takes place this weekend.
Head coach Tracy Wyant said it wasn't the way the Lady Wolves wanted to end their season, but they gave it their all and played a good game. The Lady Wolves were tied with Natrona 1-1 in regulation play, but in overtime Natrona County took advantage of a defensive error and the season ended with a 4-1 loss.
She said in overtime a defensive error sort of deflated the team and then Natrona County took over, Wyant said.
"After that, we hung our heads a little bit," she said. "We had a hard time getting back into the game."
During regulation play, Wyant said she the team played so well.
"They played one of their best games of the season," Wyant said. "The last three games I though we played great soccer."
Wyant said during regulation play the goal Natrona got was also due to a defensive error, which may have been why the team got so deflated in overtime.
"It should have been a 1-0 game," she said. "We should have won."
However, with a team that's stronger on defense than offensive it was even more important for them not to make mistakes.
"It was a rough ending, especially for our seniors," Wyant said. "It always is."
Despite losing the game, Wyant said the Lady Wolves should be proud of how much they improved during the season and how many of them met their personal goals.
"They are building some really good character," she said.
Wyant said they played hard and that's important even if the season didn't end the way they wanted it to.
Scoring the only goal for the Lady Wolves, was Chezney Mamalis.
