Wilson waives hearing

Green River City Councilman Allan Wilson waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning minutes prior to when the hearing was scheduled to take place in Rock Springs.

Wilson is charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a minor in Sweetwater County and faces a charge of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor in Lincoln County. After waiving his preliminary hearing, his Sweetwater County charges were bound over to Third District Court in Green River.

His charge in Sweetwater County stems from allegations that Wilson had engaged in sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 13 sometime during the spring or summer of 2013. His Lincoln County charge comes from an allegation claiming Wilson had committed sexual intrusion of the same minor sometime between April 29 and Sept. 1, 2011.

His Sweetwater County charge carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000, while the Lincoln County charge carries a possible sentence of up to 50 years in prison and a fine of $10,000. Wilson’s preliminary hearing had been continued multiple times since his initial appearance in circuit court in late January. Wilson’s preliminary hearing in Lincoln County is scheduled for June 8.
