Hard work and dedication paid off for the Green River High School cheerleaders.
The team took the state title in non-stunt last week and finished third in all-girl cheer. The high school dance team also fared well in state competition, earning a third-place finish in jazz dance and fourth in hip hop.
For head cheer coach Mercedes Ball, the state title is proof of the girls' dedication throughout the season.
"They worked really, really hard," Ball said. "We have a group of talented ladies."
Ball said the team gave it their all, describing the year as a hectic period for them. The team practiced six days a week, with their Saturday practices sometimes going as long as six hours long prior to the state competition in Casper.
Ball said the team will lose five seniors to graduation, but she's working on a recruiting process and plans to work at promoting the team at Lincoln Middle School, as well as the high school. Ball plans to start recruiting and tryouts in early April.
