The Green River Girls and Boys Indoor Track teams traveled to Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho to participate in one of the largest high school indoor track meets ever with 2,200 participants from the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
There were a number of outstanding national performances, as one of the boys just missed clearing 7 feet in the high jump after clearing an excellent early-season height of 6’9.”
Also, a pole vaulter from California who came to the U.S. from Norway cleared 17’08.5”.
The top performance from Wyoming was from senior distance runner from Cheyenne Central, Aubrey Frentheway, who took first place in the 3,200-meter run in 10:47.02.
Head track coach Dan Hansen said freshman Skylee Gomez had a five second personal record improvement, while many of his athletes gained great experience competing at such a large, prestigious meet.
Hansen also said the meet was another great opportunity to prepare his athletes for the state indoor track championships in two weeks.
