Lois Peterson, 84, passed away Feb. 16, 2018, at her home in Rock Springs, surrounded by her family and following a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Rock Springs.
Peterson was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Rock Springs, the daughter of James Martin Overy and Hazel Lee Teters.
She attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1952 graduate of the Rock Springs High School.
Peterson married David Ray Peterson Sept. 26, 1952, in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death July 23, 2001, in Salt Lake City.
She was a homemaker for many years.
Peterson enjoyed spending time with family, rock hunting, bowling, playing pool, card and dice games, and going to Riverton with Rhonda.
Survivors include one son, Martin James Peterson of Rock Springs; five daughters, Brenda Nellen and husband Gary of Rock Springs, Linda Beauchamp and husband Joe of Rock Springs, Rhonda Oleson of Rock Springs, Lana Peterson of Rock Springs, Debra Thiemke of Wheatland; one sister, Charlotte Sturdevant of Rock Springs; 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several cousins, nephews, nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Davida Irene Peterson; two sisters, Bessie Marie Overy, Patricia Zombro; one grandson, John Stephens; one great-grandson, Cody Dean Cook; and in-laws Alberta and Leslie Peterson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Feb. 22, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Home one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. The family will be receiving guests at 803 Rhode Island Ave., Rock Springs.
