The Green River High School swimming and diving team not only came in second at conference, they broke some records along the way.
During the 4A West Conference meet, Kelly Walsh High School came in first with 422 points, while Green River grabbed second with 379 and Rock Springs High School came in third with 174.
In a previous interview with head coach Colleen Seiloff, she knew going into conferences that Kelly Walsh would be the team to beat.
After this weekend, the Wolves have 15 swimmers who have qualified for state. Some of those swimmers even broke records at conference this weekend.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Michael Richmond, Ethan Moffatt, James King and Lane Hutchison broke a 4A record with a time of 1:38.03.
Richmond showed his dominance in the 100-yard freestyle by breaking the 4A record with a time of 48.23.
For those who didn’t qualify for state, there is still one more opportunity on Thursday during the last chance meet. This meet will take place in Pinedale at 4 p.m. and the team hopes to qualify a few more swimmers. Seiloff said in a previous interview that there are a few swimmers who are just knocking on the door and are so close to qualifying.
