Gordon Hoover passed away Sept. 25, 2017 at his home in Garden Grove, Calif.
Gordon was born on March 15, 1932, in Green River.
He was the youngest son of Myrtle and Robert Hoover and worked the railroad prior to joining the U.S. Army and attending the University of Wyoming.
He graduated with an electrical engineering degree and headed west to work for Hughes Aircraft Company.
He met and married Sylvia L'Angelle in 1961 and together they raised three daughters, Kelly, Michelle and Stefanie. He retired early and worked at H&R Block for another 25 years. During that time, Gordon and Sylvia travelled throughout the west -- Oregon, Washington, Canada, Montana, and back home to Wyoming. The Tetons were one of his favorite destinations and the trips continued with his daughters and grandchildren. Green River and the Tetons were always either the beginning or the end of his travels, with stops in between to Utah and Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Kelly and his best friend Carl Williams. Also preceded in death by his sisters Doris, Phyllis and Marilyn.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley; daughters, Michelle (Gregory) and Stefanie (Ty) and his grandchildren, Kathleen, Gordon, and Dane. Green River was his home with special memories of Carl, Beverly and their family and Carol and Don Brown. Funeral Mass will be held at All Souls Mortuary in Long Beach, Calif., Friday.
