During the Soutwest Invite, the Green River Lady Wolves swimming team continued to decrease their times.
“Lyman went pretty well,” head coach Colleen Seiloff said. “I’m pretty sure we won the meet.”
The official results were posted on the Wyoming High School Activities Association website, but an overall winner was not listed. Based on the Lady Wolves’ performance, Seiloff is assuming they won the meet. During the meet, two of the swimmers qualified for state in an event they hadn’t qualified in before. Madison Young qualified in the 500 freestyle, while Kaycee Olsen qualified in the 100 freestyle.
Seiloff said these two swimmers are already qualified in two events, but at state each swimmer can swim up to two events. The more state qualifiers the team has, the better it is for the team because they can move swimmers around to compete in as many events as possible.
With the team traveling for the last five out of the six meets they attended, they are really looking forward to hosting two meets in Green River this week. The first meet will take place Friday at 2 p.m., while the second will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday.
“It’s really nice to be home for homecoming weekend,” Seiloff said. “That never happens for us.”
Seiloff is also happy with the teams coming to compete against Green River. On Friday, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne Central and Jackson will compete, while on Saturday Laramie and Jackson are competing.
“They’ve been pretty focused,” Seiloff said. “They’re tired, but working hard.”
