Former resident arrested in Montana

A former Green River resident on the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office most wanted list was arrested in Montana for probation revocation on original charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping and conspiracy to commit felony theft.

The sheriff’s office announced the arrest of 18-year-old Hayden Anthony Riggs Tuesday evening. Riggs was involved in an attack on a worker at the Sweetwater Youth Crisis Center which left the employee tied up and injured. The worker was treated for injuries to her throat after the attack. Riggs and his roommate at the center planned the attack and sought to steal the worker’s vehicle in an attempt to escape.

Riggs, who was a juvenile at the time, was charged as an adult and plead guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and conspiracy to commit felony theft. He was sentenced to 20-25 years in prison, suspended, and placed on 10 years supervised probation for the kidnapping charge and sentenced to three to five years for the theft charge.

He was sent to boot camp through the Wyoming Department of Corrections and completed in April, being placed on supervised probation after his release. On Aug. 17, he left the Milestones Youth Home in Sheridan, leaving his phone and ankle monitor. He was tracked to Glendive, Mont., where he was arrested Monday without incident.
