Assisted living facility opens in GR

It’s official. The Mission at Castle Rock Villa Assisted Living is now open to those who need assisted living.

On Saturday, the Villa hosted an open house to allow residents and potential clients a chance to tour the facility.

“It’s already up and running,” Villa director Susan Crofutt said.

The Villa is mainly for people who need a little bit of help, but aren’t ready to go into a nursing home, Crofutt said. This facility is for those who may need help going to the bathroom, while taking a bath or reminders of when to take their medication.

“They may need help with things every once in a while,” Crofutt said.

The residents who will live at the Villa can no longer live independently, but aren’t ready 24-hour care a nursing home provides. This is sort of a transitional facility, she said.

“It’s a way for them to keep their independence longer,” Crofutt said.

Not only does the Villa provide a laundry service, but housekeeping, activities, three meals a day and snacks. There is also a CNA on the floor 24 hours a day in case a resident needs help.

Every month, the residents will have the opportunity to take a shopping trip. They can also visit with a beautician once a week or attend religious services on the weekends.

The rooms are set up much like hotel rooms and they can come furnished or unfurnished. Some items included are a walk-in shower, Wifi, a private telephone and a mini fridge. Those who want TVs, microwaves or coffee makers will need to bring them.

“We’ve remodeled,” she said. “It’s a beautiful building.

Crofutt said the facility was inspected and they have a temporary license. Although she doesn’t know when the actual license will arrive, they are starting to spread the word about the 24 rooms available.

So far, the Villa, which opened July 17, has two residents. However, Crofutt is hoping that will change soon. She said the opening of this facility gives the Green River community another alternative to placing their loved one in an assisted living facility in Rock Springs.
