The Green River High School Boys Soccer Team has gotten comfortable working overtime during their past few games.
According to head coach Chris Bieber, it's not a situation he would like to see the boys repeatedly in, but admits the team does have an advantage because of their familiarity with overtime play.
That advantage didn't materialize during their third game with their rivals from Rock Springs. Tuesday afternoon, the Tigers defeated the Wolves and gave them their first conference loss, resulting in a 5-1-2 record.
Despite the loss, the Wolves are ready to rebound in their upcoming contests against Natrona County High School and Kelly Walsh this weekend.
The Wolves' previous game against Natrona county ended in a 2-1 victory at home, while they tied Kelly Walsh 0-0.
After their trip to Casper, they will make a return journey to Kelly Walsh to compete at regionals May 11-13, with the state soccer tournament scheduled to take place May 18-20 in Sheridan.
Beiber hopes the Wolves will be ready for regionals and believes the team has a good shot at becoming back-to-back regional champions.
However, there are improvements they still need to make. Beiber said one of the main issues they will have to overcome is allowing their opponents the first score, which puts the Wolves into an uncomfortable position.
The team does work well together, Bieber said, with all 11 players contributing to their success.
During Saturday's match up against Jackson, Beiber said Chase Stoeger, Gregory Marchal and Christian Alatorre worked support one another well, but said the entire team works hard to control the field.
The first score of the game went to Chase Stoeger ,while Iliel Ibara helped with the game-w inning score during the third minute of overtime.
The boys traveled to Evanston Friday and defeated the Red Devils 2-1, winning their third game against the team this season.
