lma Rose Brandt

lma Rose Brandt, 87, of Rock Springs, passed away April 5, 2017, at the Sage View Care Center where she had been a resident for six years.

She was born July 31, 1929, in Superior, the daughter of August "Gus" Joseph and Edna Rizzi Manifior.

Brandt attended schools in Superior, Cokeville and Cheyenne. She graduated from the Cokeville High School in 1947 and went on to obtain her bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Wyoming in 1959.

She married Gary William Brandt in Sheridan June 2, 1962, and he preceded her in death Nov. 11, 2004.

For 37 years, Brandt taught elementary school but her passion was kindergarten. She most recently taught at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School for 12 and retiring in 1995.

Her interests included spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed oil painting, art, crafting and playing bingo.

Survivors include one son Joseph Brandt and wife Pepper of Rock Springs; daughter Anne McMartin and husband Garland of Rock Springs; sister Clara Dayton of Kansas City, Mo .; three grandchildren, Ryan Brandt, Rhys Brandt, Darby McMartin and one step-son Drew McMartin; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one nephew Michael Dayton.

Cremation took place and services occurred Wednesday.
