Swimmers win home meet, qualify 1 for state

The boys swimming team put on a great performance at their home pool Saturday.

The Wolves were able to qualify one more swimmer to the state competition in Gillette while a diver and another swimmer were able to set a new pool record in their events.

The state qualifier in the 100 butterfly is Logan Johnson while Keyan Moore set the pool record in diving, scoring 434.5 points in the event and taking first place for GRHS. Brendan Bloomquist set the pool record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.94.

Head coach Colleen Seiloff said the coaching staff hyped up the team’s return to their pool and a lot of the swimmers cut times throughout the meet.

“They had a really great Saturday,” Seiloff said.

Other swimmers performing well included Michael Richmond, who took first in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard freestyle.

The team will compete Tuesday for the last time at home. The meet, which features swimmers from Rock Springs and Riverton, starts at 4 p.m. The competition will also host the team’s Senior Night recognition.
