Mary V. Valley

Mary V. Valley, 67, passed away Oct. 22, 2016 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She was a longtime resident of Rock Springs for 31 years and formerly of Green River for nine years.

She was born in Racine, Wisc., Sept. 27, 1949, the daughter of Robert Eugene Valley and Alma Therese Holzschun Valley. Valley attended schools in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and was a graduate from the St. Thomas Aquinas with the class of 1968.

She attended Western Wyoming Community College and received her welding certificate. She married Joe Downing in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 1967 and they later divorced. He preceded her in death in 2015. She later married Gary Sundfor in Eden in 1986 and they later divorced.

Valley was employed by Stauffer Chemical as a mine mechanic for

10 years and retired in 1986 and a librarian at the White Mountain Library

for six years. She was a state delegate for Al-Anon for Wyoming.

Her interests include, spending time with her family, reading, thrift shopping, her animals Zoey, Micah, and Little Kitty.

Survivors include one son, Bill Downing of Rock Springs; two brothers, Jim Valley and wife Marti of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and John Valley of Happy

Valley, Ore .; one granddaughter, Annie Carr of Rock Springs; one

great-granddaughter, Jaycee Carr of Rock Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Pat Valley, and

brother Mike Valley. Cremation has taken place and a

mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs. Friends may call one hour prior to services
