Helen Bernice Syndergaard, 89, passed away Nov. 14, 2016, at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield, Utah.
Helen was born the ninth of 10 children to John Swenson and Anthere Mills April 1, 1927 in Fairview, Utah.
On June 9, 1942 she married Harold Burt Syndergaard in Manti, Utah. They were together until Harold’s death in 1985. She and Harold moved many times throughout their lives together going where the work was as Harold worked construction, oil fields, power plants and mines as a heavy duty welder and mechanic.
Helen worked as a retail clerk for Gibson’s in Green River. Wal-Mart in Stilwell, Okla., Pamida in Rock Springs and retired from K-Mart in Rock Springs.
She loved to play board and dice games. She was an avid reader. She loved dill pickles, macaroni and tomatoes, maple nut ice cream and black licorice. In later years she played games, read and checked Facebook.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by her younger sister Ronna Lee Torgerson of Denver; daughters, Marquita Lyn Syndergaard Davis of Layton, Utah, Tamara Sue Syndergaard of Wills Point, Texas, Teresa Kay Syndergaard Lowe of Superior, Lisa Gay Syndergaard and spouse Duane Jensen of Murray, Utah; eight grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special “son-in-law” Tim McHale of Layton, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Burt Syndergaard; two sons, John Lee Syndergaard and Larry Dean Syndergaard; one son-in-law, Jeffrey Lowe; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Syndergaard and nine of her ten siblings.
A viewing will take place Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. with services to follow immediately after at Aaron’s Mortuary 1050 S. State Street, Clearfield, Utah. Graveside services will take place on Friday, at 11 a.m. at the Rock Springs Cemetery.
