Wanda Mae (Jones) Lemmon, 87, of Thornton, Colo., passed away from natural causes on Aug. 7, 2016.
A resident of Rock Springs from her birth until she moved to Colorado in 2011, she had been staying at Lifecare Center of Longmont, Colo., for the past few weeks. During that time, she was able to spend meaningful time with many of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was with family when she passed.
Lemmon was born Sept. 11, 1928, she attended school and worked in Rock Springs. She married William Lyle Lemmon Sept. 7, 1946, remaining married for 65 years until he died in 2010. Together they had four children.
Lemmon's interests included dancing, gardening, spending summers on their land in the Green River Ranches, snowmobiling, crocheting and playing slot machines.
A lover of good food, she enjoyed cooking and baking, and engaged in creative pursuits through local crafts clubs. She was a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft Lodge and the Elks' Lodge and Eagles Club. She was also a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs.
Survivors include daughter Karen Yoast and husband Bruce of Thornton, Colo., daughter Wanda Sue Faigl and husband Robert of Mesquite, Nev., son Lyle Michael Lemmon of Pendelton, Ore., daughter Melody Hoggan and Jim Weber of Alpine, Wy, as well as eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lyle Lemmon, son Maxie Lemmon, father William D. Jones, mother Geneva Flaim, stepfather Mansueto (Max) Flaim, siblings Dorothy Foltz, William (Rocky) Jones, Paul E. Jones, and Richard (Bucky) Jones,and grandson Robert Bradley Faigl.
Following cremation a celebration of life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wy. Inurnment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to services.
