Rosalind Orena Pierce Kester, 88, of Green River, passed away at her home in Green River July 7, 2016. A longtime resident of Green River and former resident of Colorado, South Dakota and New York, Kester died following a brief illness.
Kester was born on April 30, 1928 in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Clarence and Orena Purks Pierce.
She married Edwin O. Kester in Oacoma, S.D. on Feb. 23, 1963 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1999.
Kester was a volunteer at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for many years.
Her interests included knitting, ceramics, gardening, sewing, crafts and traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Frederick C. Draper and wife Barbara of Texas, Dana M. Draper and wife Amy of New York, and Monte K. Kester and wife Sheryl of Green River; daughter Helen L. Waters and husband Thomas of New York; two sisters, Chery L. Thompson and husband Gerald of Florida and Linda L. Stevenson and husband Ronald of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends Bonnie and Manuel Pope, Grandad, Loraine Robinson, Kathy Robinson, Purdy Chacon, Annabelle Martinez, Kevin and Carmen Burd, Wes and Diana Mozely, Nora, Robin Holmes, Dylan and Danelle Burd and family, Paula Scott and girls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Frederick C. Draper; second husband Edwin Kester; three brothers, Harry Pierce, Aubrey Pierce and Montello Pierce; and step-son Edwin C. Kester.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, at Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, in Green River. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at Vase Chapel on Friday, one hour prior to services.
