A new addition to the Great American Road Trip sticker series recognizes Green River and its natural beauty.
The sticker is part of the Wyoming Office of Tourism's series of stickers highlighting locations found along the road to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Stickers depicting Rock Springs and the Flaming Gorge were previously introduced to the series.
The sticker depicts the Interstate 80 tunnels, Castle Rock, the Palisades, as well as the river itself. Misty Springer, public affairs and grants administrator for the city, said the sticker also illustrates the fun people can have in the river, as people are shown floating down the river.
Springer said the city worked with the state tourism office to produce the stickers, using a special color palette the office uses in their sticker designs. While each sticker depicts a particular aspect of a location chosen, the colors used are the same throughout the series.
Springer said the Green River Chamber of Commerce started receiving calls about the stickers as soon as an announcement was made regarding Green River's inclusion into the series.
"We've been getting a lot of calls about the stickers," Kyla Magarth, public relations and marketing specialist for the Green River chamber, said.
Magarth said the calls coming in have come from both people in Green River, as well as those living outside of the area. A few have requested stickers sent to them.
City Administrator Reed Clevenger said the stickers were paid for through marketing funds approved during the 2015/2016 city budget, not from funds approved two weeks ago.
