Having already done what no other Green River boys soccer team has done, the Wolves prepared for their final matches in Sheridan this weekend with the dream of a state title a real possibility.
The boys took first in both the 4A West Conference as well as at the regional tournament last weekend. Tuesday, the boys practiced on the grass field at Lincoln Middle School to get accustomed to the grass they will play on in Sheridan.
"There's one thing left to do on out agenda," coach Chris Bieber said.
With the team's final practice taking place Wednesday evening, the team's hard work and preparation will be tested at the state tournament. Tuesday, the team practiced a penalty kick shootout to prepare for a situation they faced at regionals against Riverton. The Wolves won the shootout 4-1, but Bieber isn't taking any chances.
Preparation will be key for the upcoming state tournament. The team has never placed higher than third at state. Bieber said the team has worked hard for the past few weeks.
Bieber said he's excited to see the Wolves to meet up with any team attending state, saying all of the teams will bring their best to the tournament.
"I'm excited for this week," Bieber said. "It's what we've worked for all season. It's here."
