Robert Gene Carmine, 84, of Rock Springs, died May 11, 2016 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 7, 1931 in Alliance, Neb., the son of Park Carmine and Lena Aimonetto.
Carmine attended school in Newcastle and was a graduate of the Newcastle High School with the class of 1948.
He earned a bachelors degree in education as well as a masters degree in business from the University of Wyoming.
He married Mary E. Carr in Newcastle on July 4, 1951 while he was home on leave from the U.S. Navy. They were married in the Catholic Church in Newcastle and she preceded him in death on Sep. 6, 2011.
Carmine was a United States Navy Vetran during the Korean Conflict.
He was a teacher for 27 years at the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 and retired in May of 1991, and was a resident of Rock Springs since 1964.
Carmine's interests include hunting, fishing, and anything to do with the great outdoors, spending time with his family and friends as well as taking his dog to the dog park.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Carmine of Rock Springs and Robbie Carmine and wife Gail, also of Rock Springs; three daughters, Cindy Petersen and husband Vance of Rock Springs, Candy Bedard and husband Mark of Rock Springs and Claudette Harris and husband Jack from San Diego; 10 grandchildren, Robbie J., Ryan and Christopher Carmine, Rob Petersen, Taryn Petersen, Zachary Parker Harris, Kayla Carmine, Chantel Carmine, Lexi and Alyssa Bedard; several great-grandchildren and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Randy Carmine.
A mass took place Tuesday.
