Marilyn Lousie McGarr, 68, of Rock Springs, passed away May 13, 2016 at the Univertsity of Utah Medical Center.
A resident of Rock Springs for the past four years and former resident of Pinedale, McGarr died following a month-long illness.
She was born on July 8, 1947 in Fresno, Calif., the daughter of William Daul Tompkins and Effie May Day Tompkins.
McGarr was a member of the baptist church.
She attended schools in California and graduated from Franklin Sr. High School with the class of 1965.
McGarr married James McGarr in Tillicum, Wash. April 8, 1965. He preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 2009 in Pinedale.
She was employed at the Sublette County Sheriff's Office for 20 years and retired in 2011. She then worked part time for Rock Springs Horse Palace for the past five years.
Her interests included spending time with family especially her grandchildren, collecting porcelain mice, camping, gambling and enjoying the great outdoors.
Survivors include her two sons, Christopher and wife Lynn McGarr of Pinedale and Brandon and Tanya McGarr of Rock Springs; sister Caroline Lopez of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren, Lauren McGarr of San Antonio, Texas, Michael McGarr of Rock Springs, Casey McGarr of Riverton, Shawn McGarr and Alannah McGarr both of Pinedale; one great-grandson, Brantley DePree, of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Cremation has taken place and services are pending.
