Jean Piner, 77, of Rock Springs, passed away May 16, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Piner died following a brief illness.
She was born on August 19, 1938 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Dugas Blasko.
Piner attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1957 graduate of the Rock Springs High School. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Denver and then attended Carroll College in Helena, Mont. and received a bachelor or science degree in nursing.
She married Norman Piner in Jackson, July 19, 1973.
Piner was employed at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for 35 years as a registered nurse in many departments.
She enjoyed quilting, was an avid reader, cooking, gardening and the outdoors.
Piner was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community.
Survivors include her husband Norman Piner of Rock Springs and one daughter, Becky Drnas and husband Joe of Rock Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Following cremation, a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 116 Broadway in Rock Springs. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
