John C. Lewis, 83, of Green River, passed away May 3, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A long time resident of Green River, Lewis died following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 8, 1932 in Rock Springs, the son of the late John C. Lewis and the former Viginia Pack.
Lewis attended schools in Rock Springs.
He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
He married Rita Josephine Galbreth and they later divorced. He later married Nancy Thompson in Rock Springs, March 23, 1975 and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2003.
Lewis had been employed by FMC as a miner for many years.
His interests included fishing, hunting and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Anthony Lewis and wife Shauna of Green River, Dennis Lewis of Kemmerer, and Mike Lewis of Jamestown; daughter Marie Lewis of Arkansas; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife Rita Josephine Galbreth and his wife Nancy Lewis.
A celebration of his life took place Monday.
