Victor Joseph Zumpfe, 72, of Rock Springs, passed away April 29, 2016 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 30, 1943 in Crete, Neb., the son of Joseph W. and Rose Skutchan Zumpfe.
Zumpfe attended schools in Crete, Neb. and was a 1961 graduate of the Crete High School.
He was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War from Oct. 9, 1963 until he was honorably discharged on Aug. 27, 1969.
Zumpfe was the owner and operator of Vic's Automotive Machine Shop for 30 years, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church, American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
His interests included street rods, karaoke, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Victor Zumpfe, Jr. of Sheridan, Jesse Zumpfe of Gillette and Dustin Zumpfe of Rock Springs; brother Tom Zumpfe of Lincoln, Neb .; three sisters, Emily Lobb, Rosemary Zumpfe and Wendy Huffman, all of Lincoln, Neb .; and granddaughter Amanda Nichole Yates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Zumpfe, and one sister Kathhleen Maxwell.
Following cremation, memorial services and military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. May 11, at the American Legion, Archie Hay Post #24, 551 Broadway, in Rock Springs.
