Jerry Mivshek Jr., 83, of Rock Springs passed away April 1, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A lifelong resident of Wyoming, Mivshek died following a sudden illness.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1932 in Rock Springs, the son of Jerry Mivshek and Anna Stefoin Mivshek.
Mivshek attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1953 graduate of the Rock Springs High School.
He married Patricia "Pat" Willis on May 21, 1976 in Las Vegas and she preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2015.
Mivshek served in the National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He joined in 1947, becoming part of the 141st Tank Battalion and also as a motor sergeant.
He went on active duty in 1950 as a Corporal. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Ribbon and the National Defense Ribbon. He retired in 1988.
He loved to keep busy and found several other jobs to occupy his time such as R.S. Machine Shop, Ted's Supper Club, and a maintenance man for Imperial Apartments.
He and his wife enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time at their cabin in Pinedale. He was an avid sports fan who cheered for the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos, which he and his wife attended several games. Mivshek enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife decorating and keeping their yard immaculate. He also enjoyed his dogs Niki and Shadow.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Dean Macy, Kevin James Macy and stepson Dean Willis; daughter Tammy Rae Mivshek; brother William "Bill" Mivshek and wife Mary Ann; two sisters, Geraldine "Jeri" Greene and husband Rodney and Anne Storer; his dog Shadow; extended family Bernie and Matt Keslar, Kyle and Toni "TuTu" VanValkenberg and Raymond and Kendra Scott and Kasey and Kim Keslar. Special neighbors Kari and Heath Lowinski; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Jack; one sister Mary and stepson Dan Willis.
Cremation has taken place. Condolences may be left at the Vase Funeral Home's website.
