USA Swim team impresses at state meet

The Green River USA Swim Team dominated at the Winter A State Swim meet in Gillette.

The team returned to Green River with 15 individual state champions and four relay championships.

The team took third at the event, with a total score of 1,810 points, the highest amount the team has scored at a state meet since the early 1970s.

The team also had seven regional qualifiers with Brendan Bloomquist, Ethan Moffitt, Michael Richmond, James King, Lauren Jensen, Lauren Lee, Alexa Lauze and Avery Otto-Horn. Jensen and King also received a trophy for earning the overall highest scores in their age groups.

In relays, the team of Alexis King, Ashley Jensen, Sydni Sanders and Otto-Horn took first in the 400 free. In the girls 12 and under division, the team of Lauren Jensen, Lauze, Jerra Lester and Lauren Lee took first in the 200 medley relay.

In the girls 12 and under 200 free relay event, Lauren Jensen, Lauze, Lester and Lee took first. In the boys 400, the team of Richmond, Bloomquist, King and Moffatt took first place.

Overall team accomplishments include: 

Tavia Arnell, eight years old, swims in nine events and is a state champion in the 100 IM and 25 fly.

Bloomquist, 17 years old, swims in six events, taking first place in the 200 breast. 

Devin Bobbitt, 12 years old, swims in the 50 breast and took ninth place. 

Ce'Nedra Hooley, 13 years old, swims in six events, cutting her most time at -88.97 seconds and taking fourth in the 1650 free. 

Ashley Jensen, 14 years old, swims in 10 events and placed second in the 100 fly. 

Lauren Jensen, 12 years old, swims in 14 events is a state champion in the 200 IM and the 100 IM.

Alexis King, 15 years old, swims in 13 events and took second in the 100 back. 

James King, 13 years old, swims in 13 events and is a state champion in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 back and 200 back. 

Lauze, 12 years old, swims in nine events and is a state champion in the 500 free and the 1650. 

Lee, 12 years old, swims in 12 events and took first place in the 100 free and 50 fly and is a state champion in the 100 fly and 200 free.

Lester, 12 years old, swims in six events and took second in the 100 free. 

Jarin Mandros, 14 years old, swims in seven events and had time cuts of -17.88 in her 1650 free and -17.22 in her 500 free. 

Adrienne Merrick, 13 years old, swims three events and had a cut in time -.88 in her 100 Free. 

Moffatt, 15 years old, swims in nine events and took first place in the 100 breast and second overall in finals. 

Cherylann Moritz, 13 years old, swims in 10 events and had her best cut of time in the 1650 free of -34.55 seconds, placing seventh in Finals. 

Lillian Munoz, 11 years old, swims three events and had her best cut in time of -2.73 in her 50 breast. 

Kaycee Olsen, 13 years old, swims in four events and had her best cut in time in the 100 breast of -1.98. 

Otto-Horn, 16 years old, swims 14 events and took first in her 100 fly and 100 back.

Emily Reyes, 14 years old, swims three events and had her best cut in time with her 100 breast at -9.76 seconds. 

Jason Richmond, 13 years old, swims three events and had his best cut of time of -3.82 in the 100 breast. 

Michael Richmond, 15 years old,  swims in 15 events and is a state champion in the 200 free and 200 back. 

Sydni Sanders, 14 years old, swims in 12 events, taking second overall in finals in the 500 free, cutting -17.77 seconds. 

Phoenix Sax, eight years old, swims in six events, taking eighth overall in the 25 back. 

Selena Souza, 15 years old, swims in three events and took 11th in the 50 free. 

Brady Young, 10 years old, swims in eight events and is a state champion in the 500 free.

Madison Young, 13 years old, swimming three events and cut -15.28 in the 500 free, taking 19th overall.
