Students host carnival

Sixth Grade students at Monroe Intermediate School from Lori Hastert, Joseph Clingenpeel, Scott Taylor, Rachel Conder, Craig Leavitt and Tracy Clement's classes hosted a carnival based upon a supply and demand simulation.

Students had been learning the concept of supply and demand; they were given the opportunity to present their carnival booth proposal for teacher approval. Students then had to purchase a business license, and open and operate a business.

Some of the businesses included: egg race, plinko board, bean bag toss, pie in the face, concessions and much more.

Assistant Principal Dan LaRose volunteered his time after being approached by students with a business proposition. He was asked to be the recipient of numerous pies in the face, when students won a game.

The students had been working throughout the third quarter to earn Huskies Cash. In this economy based system, students earned and paid Huskies Cash based upon behavior and completion of assignments.
