What goes around comes around! Especially when it comes to customer service; 90 percent of all service people fail to perform basic common courtesies such as greeting, making eye contact and really listening. Customer service is extremely important if you want your business to succeed. Customers are vital to your organization. Customers will spend 10 percent more for the same product if they receive better service. Unhappy customers will talk about their experience with 9-15 people, and those people will tell five or six others. A good customer service experience is usually shared with about eight people. Good news doesn’t spread as quickly as bad news and it takes at least 10 good experiences to make up for one bad one, a US News and World Report Study says.
Customer service is vital to every organization because it can help differentiate itself. In small towns our greatest assets are the people. Great customer service from a business in Green River can keep customers from taking their business to Rock Springs or shopping online.
Businesses with excellent customer service are also more likely to see repeat customers. Over five years ago the Green River Chamber started a program entitled the “Red Carpet Customer Service Award.” This program was put in place to recognize those individuals in our community who “roll out the red carpet” for their customers.
If you received exceptional customer service, you can nominate someone a number of different ways. Any employee of a Green River business is eligible to receive this award. There are “Red Carpet boxes” located at different businesses around Green River. Each box has a nomination form by it. You just pick up a form, fill it out and put back it in the box. It’s as easy as that! You can also email your nominations to office@grchamber.com or you can go to http://www.grchamber.com and enter a nomination online.
Each month the nominations are compiled and distributed to the attendees at the Chamber’s monthly Lunch and Learn event where everyone votes on the winner. Each month the nominees and winner are announced in the Chamber’s newsletter, on Facebook, and in the paper. The winner receives a red carpet service pin, a $25 chamber gift certificate, and they are entered to win the Red Carpet Service Person of the Year award.
Angela Shutran, Assistant Vice President for US Bank said this in response to one her employees receiving the award, “I was thrilled to see Theanna chosen as the recipient of the Red Carpet Service Award. I believe this reward should be pursued by every business and employee in Green River. The shared enthusiasm from our staff and our wonderful clients surrounding Theannas’ achievement has been inspirational. I would like to thank those who took the time to nominate Theanna. What a great experience for Theanna and US Bank!”
