Kids attend Dr. Seuss event

The popular Dr. Seuss book "Green Eggs and Ham" came to life on stage this weekend at the Sweetwater County Library.

During the Dr. Seuss party Saturday afternoon, children had the chance to get their face painted with various designs, including Grinch faces, Lorax mustaches or Cat in the Hat whiskers.

When they were not busy at one of the designated activity areas, which included a bookmark making area, a game area and a coloring area, they were participating in a scavenger hunt.

Children were busy looking high and low for clues to solve the mysterious phrase on their sheet.

The children had to find all of the pictures on the sheet. Once the children found the pictures, they needed to write down the letter next to the picture on their sheet.

When all of the fill-in-the-blank spots were filled, the message revealed was "Dr. Seuss."

The children were then instructed to show a youth-services librarian the finished sheet and they could then pick out a prize. Some of the prizes in the basket were book marks, bracelets, mini notepads and squishable bathtub ducks.

The children attending also had the chance to try on a Cat in the Hat hat or a Thing One or Thing Two wig.

They could also have their picture taken with a Cat in the Hat if they wanted to.

One event that went over well and the children really enjoyed was the "Green Eggs and Ham" reading theater performance library staff prepared.

Children of all ages were asked to help out with the skit. Some were holding a car, a boat or a train, while others were dressed up as mice, a fox or a goat.

The children had a blast listening to the story and acting out the scenes of the book.

Some of those who were not able to participate in the first theater performance, stayed to participate in the second or third theater performances.
