LaVonne Baker

LaVonne Baker, 82, of Rock Springs passed away at her home Feb. 13, 2016.

A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Fraser, Colo., Baker died following a lengthy illness. 

She was born on Aug. 29, 1933 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Roy E. and Erma F. Sabo Rosene.

Baker attended schools in Rock Springs and was a Rock Springs High School graduate.

She married Donald Ray Baker on April 3, 1952 in Evanston and he preceded her in death Nov. 7, 2013. 

Her interests included spending time with her family, camping, playing cards, decorating and keeping up her house. She also enjoyed gambling. 

She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community. 

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Baker and wife Teri and Dan Baker and wife Leshia,  all of Rock Springs; a brother and sister-in-law Frank and Carrie Baker of Pearce, Ariz .; brother-in-law Bob McCaskill of Rock Springs; sister-in-law Marlee Baker of Rock Springs; four grandchildren, Doug Baker and wife Christi of Akron, Colo., Vince Baker and wife Karen of Akron, Colo., Drew Baker and Megan Baker, both of Salt Lake City; three great-grandchildren, Skyler Baker, Haiden Baker and Briana Baker, all of Akron, Colo .; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy E. and Erma F. Rosene and her husband Don.

A mass of Christian burial will take place 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 116 Broadway in Rock Springs. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Vase Funeral Chapel at 154 Elk Street in Rock Springs.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Sunday one hour prior to the vigil service and on Monday at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to services.

The family of LaVonne Baker will be receiving relatives and friends at 191 Lester Drive, Rock Springs.
