G. Irene Giles Miller, 93, of Watseka, Ill., passed away Feb. 2, 2016 at Gilman Health Care Center in Gilman, Ill.
She was born April 6, 1922 in Onarga, Ill., the daughter of Lawrence M. and Susie E. Barnard Link.
She married John Giles in 1942 and he preceded her in death. She later married John Miller in 1972 and he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Gary and wife Vickie Giles of Ashkum, Ill., and Stanford J. and wife Victoria Giles of Galveston, Ind.; daughter LaDonna and husband Rick Carpenter of Green River; four grandchildren, Justin Giles, Tonia Robison, Crystal LeFevre, and Dusty Young; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Wasmer, Sandra Matthews, and Patricia and husband Frank Lomuscio; and special friend, Susan Statler.
In addition to her parents, Giles and Miller, Irene was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and grandchildren Spencer T. Giles and David Taylor.
Irene was a member of the Ashkum United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing the organ and singing for the Ashkum and Gilman Methodist Churches, and served as Junior Choir Director for Ashkum.
She loved crocheting, knitting, painting, and fishing.
Miller worked as a baker at the Redwood Inn as well as worked as a CNA at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth, Ill.
Cremation rites have been accorded and memorial service will take place at a later date at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton, Ill. At that time, burial will be in Onarga Cemetery in Onarga, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry in Clifton.
