While the Green River High School Boys Swimming and Diving Team continues to improve its performance in the pool, the freshmen have shined during their recent competitions.
Head coach Colleen Seiloff said the freshmen members of the team continue to impress and will only get better as they gain more experience in high school competition. She said Dean Lyon and Brastin Moore had great time cuts during the weekend, while Michael Richmond and Lane Hutchison made improvements as well.
The team competed in Lyman and Evanston last week, taking second with 296 points at Evanston and finishing eight points behind Rock Springs High School. While in Evanston, Richmond won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke while teammate Ethan Moffatt won the 100-yard breaststroke. The relay team of Richmond, Brendan Bloomquist, Moffat and Brendon Curry-Hobbs also won the 200-yard medley relay event.
In Lyman, Green River took first in the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay, with Richmond winning the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle. Moffatt finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke event.
The boys will host Evanston High School Wednesday evening and will travel to Cheyenne for meets at Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne South this weekend. Seiloff said the trip gives the team a chance to compete with teams from the other side of the state and see how they stack up.
