It’s that time of year again.
Time to make another New Year’s resolution.
What will 2016 hold?
I do not know, but if it is anything like this year it will not disappoint.
Usually, I am all ready to make a resolution about losing weight, eating healthier and exercising.
But this year, I am not so ready to hop on that exercise train again. I could stand to lose 10 pounds, but I am not sure if that is something I need to openly state that I am going to resolve.
This left me wondering what some of the most common resolutions are. Which in turn led me to the Internet for a search. Once again, my favorite search engine did not let me down and I soon discovered that the top 10 most common New Year’s resolutions each year are losing weight, getting organized, spending less, enjoying life, staying fit and healthy, learning something new, quit smoking, helping others, falling in love and spending more time with family.
All of these things sound great and I am not surprised a lot of resolutions focus around family and healthy eating especially with the holidays just passing. Some of us, me included, might have eaten just a little too many treats or drank a little too much eggnog. Either way, I do not think I will make mine about weight.
I think I would like to resolve to be a better person. What does that mean to me? I am not sure. It may mean saying no to things I do not really want to do so I may have time for those I want to do.
I would like to spend more time making memories with my children for they are already growing up too fast.
I would also like to spend more time learning how to sew and setting aside more craft times for me and my boys.
I want to do more fishing, camping and hiking as well. Our family always seems to have the most fun on these types of adventures.
Oh, and I would like to reorganize the basement, which is something I always have on my list.
With these resolutions in mind, I will try my best to succeed at them. Most resolutions are broken within the first month, but I think I can at least accomplish some of these in a year.
And so I am officially declaring 2016 the year of me. It may sound selfish, but this year of me will make me a better person and in turn that will impact the people around me.
