The Green River Middle School girls swim team wrapped up an undefeated season in Green River.
The team's conference win completes a second undefeated season for the team. Head coach Michele O'Melia said both the swimmers and divers performed well at the conference meet Dec. 12. Divers Afton Spalding, Morgan Atkins, Jerra Lester, Lillian Munoz all scored at the conference meet, with Raena Finch being the top diver, scoring 116.80. The score placed Finch in the top five.
The team won the competition with 450 points.
During the course of the season, team members also broke three school records. Sydni Sanders broke the 100-yard freestyle record with a time of 57.78. That record was originally set by Teri Hodo in 1989 with a time of 58.81. Kathryn O'Toole, Lauren Lee, Ce'Nedra Hooley and Sanders broke the 200-yard freestyle relay record with a time of 1:52:50. The freestyle relay record was set in 2004 by Mandy Schumacher, Nicole Filicetti, Sheridan Cover and Olivia Watlington with a time of 1:52.75. The third record broken was in the 200-yard medley relay by the team of Kinley Cochrane, Lauren Jensen, Lee and Sanders with a time of 2:04.71. The medley relay record was set by Schumacher, Watlington, Rene Meeks and Jordan Robles in 2004 with a time of 2:06.71.
