Jess Barrera, 88, of Rock Springs, passed away Dec. 17, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs Barrera had been in ill health for the past year.
He was born on July 27, 1927 in Rock Springs, the son of the late Jesus and Cliafas Barrera.
Barrera attended schools in Rock Springs.
He was employed by FMC as an underground miner for 36 years.
Barrera's interests included camping, working on automobiles, spending time with family and friends and four wheeling.
He was a member of United Steel Worker's of America and Restoration Ministries.
Survivors include his companion Peggy Burns of Rock Springs; son Stephen G. Barrera and wife Janice of Green River; brother Chris Barrera of Green River; sister Theresa Kuenzler of Commerce City, Colo.; several cousins nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Cliafas Barrera; brother Angelo Barrera; sister Marguerite Barrera; half brother Ezekiel Gomes; half sisters Nora Ivie and Helen Goddard.
A celebration of life took place Wednesday.
