William Boyd "Butch" Soltis, Sr. 86, of Rock Springs, passed away Dec. 11, 2015. He had been a longtime resident of Rock Springs, and former resident of Superior.
He was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Superior, the son of the late John and Helen Soltis.
Soltis attended schools in Superior, and was a 1947 graduate of the Superior High School.
He married Hannah Harney Soltis in Green River, Feb. 10, 1949.
Soltis was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged on January of 1954.
He was employed at FMC for 35 years and retired as a foreman on Sept. 1, 1991.
Soltis was a member of the First Congregational Church.
His interests included rock hunting, crafts, cooking, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and his great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Hannah of Rock Springs; son William Boyd Soltis, Jr. and wife Lori of Rock Springs; two grandsons, B.J. Soltis and wife Kellie of Rock Springs, and Derek Soltis of Casper; four great-grandchildren, Taylor J. Johansen, Evan Soltis, Taylor Shaylynn Romero, and Landon Romero; four nieces and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother John; two sisters, Margaret Robinson and Bette Ross; his daughter-in-law Joni Soltis.
Following cremation, there will be no services at his request.
