Harry R. Chipp

Harry R. Chipp, 96, of Rock Springs passed away Nov. 25, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.  He had been a longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of Sublet and Kemmerer.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1919 in Sublet, the son of the late Willard A. and Agnes Williams Chipp.

Chipp attended schools in Sublet and Kemmerer.

He married the former Lena Prevedel in Rock Springs on Aug. 27, 1949 and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2008.

Chipp was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He served with the 1st Army-3rd Armored Division Maintenance Company in the 32nd Armored Regiment and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.

He was employed at the Wyoming Department of Transportation for 21 years and retired as a shop foreman on Dec. 7, 1984.

His interests were hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was one of the oldest members of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 151 and of the American Legion Archie Hay Post #24.

Survivors include one son Ray Chipp of Rock Springs; one daughter Patricia Miller and husband Bert of Rock Springs; two grandchildren, Chad Miller of Rock Springs, and Kristie Hopper and husband Brett of Grants Pass, Ore .; one great-granddaughter Hailee Hopper and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lena; three brothers and four sisters.

Cremation will take place and memorial graveside services will take place in the spring.

The family of Harry Raymond Chipp respectfully suggests that donations in his memory be made to Young At Heart Senior Citizen's Center, 2400 Reagan, Rock Springs, Wyoming or the American Legion Archie Hay Post #24, 551 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
