Luangyong "Pon" Wooden, 78, of Rock Springs passed away Nov. 8, 2015 at her home. She had been a longtime resident of Rock Springs.
She was born on June 24, 1937 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Wooden attended schools in Thailand.
She married James Richard Wooden in Nakhon Ratchsima, Thailand on Nov. 24, 1971.
Wooden was of the Buddist faith.
Her interests included bingo where she met many friends. She enjoyed taking care of her family especially her grandchildren and keeping her home meticulously clean. Wooden also a collector of beanie babies.
Survivors include her husband James R. Wooden of Rock Springs; two sons, Komsan Troy Wooden of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Ekaphol "Hank" Wooden of Olympia, Wash .; one brother, Somkit Srisangiem of Bangkok, Thailand and two sisters, also from Bangkok, Thailand; nine grandchildren Suprapon "Dune" Santhanawit of Indiana, Tom Santhanawit, Toiy Santhanawit, McKayla Schantle, McKasey Schantle, Elizabeth Wooden, Tristian Wooden, Troy Wooden and Mia Wooden; two great-grandchildren Maeli Jade Cassel and Makya McQuade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Lawon Srisangiem, oldest son Suwit Santhanawit, and adopted son Gowit Santanawit.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Thursday one hour prior to services.
