W. David Williams, 67, of Rock Springs, died Oct. 19, 2015, at his home with his family by his side. Williams had lived in Rock Springs for almost 40 years. He was in declined health for almost two years.
Williams was born on Aug.19, 1948, in Albuquerque, the son of Walter Lloyd Wright and Clara Juanita Morrow. They later divorced and nine years later Clara married Glenn Williams, who adopted David.
He attended schools in Moriarty, N.M. and graduated from Moriarty High School in 1966.
Williams served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, where he was a crew chief and a gunner in Vietnam. He did two tours there and had a honorable discharge in May of 1970.
He married Debra Patterson in New Mexico in 1972 and had one daughter, Monica. They later divorced in 1974. In 1981 Williams married Barbara Sanchez of Rock Springs and he raised two sons, Micheal and Eddie.
Williams was self-employed and was the owner and operator of W. David Williams Trucking.
His interests were his family, working on his truck, hunting, fishing, camping, family get togethers, barbecues, Facebook, NRA and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Williams of Rock Springs; two sons, Micheal Sanchez and wife Deonna of Sheridan and Eddie Del Rio of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; daughter Monica Seifers of Milford, Utah; brother Harold Williams of Edgewood, N.M.; two sisters, Gloria Clements and husband Robert of Edgewood, N.M. and Sharon Abrahamson of Avon Lake, Ohio; six grandchildren, Casey Carson, Paige Sanchez, Devan Sanchez, Edward Del Rio, Autumn Seifers and Aspen Seifers; and four great-grandchildren, Raylynn Overy, Hoyt Seifers, Austynn Seifers anad Stryder Seifers,
He was was preceded in death by his biological father, Lloyd Wright, mom Clara Williams and step-father Glenn Williams; nephew Jimmy Clements; niece Sarah Clements; father-in-law Cinesio Sanchez and mother-in-law Juila Sanchez.
Following cremation, a memorial service with military honors will take place at 10 a.m., Friday at the American Legion Archie Hay, 551 Broadway, Rock Springs. The American Legion Chaplin, Matt Jett, will conduct the services. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
