Thomas "Tom" John Kershisnik

Thomas "Tom" John Kershisnik, 85, of Rock Springs passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, in Highlands Ranch, Colo., with loving family at his bedside.

A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Kershisnik had been in ill health for the past five months.

He was born of Aug. 14, 1930 in Rock Springs, the son of the late John J. and Angela Kershisnik.

Kershisnik attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from the Rock Springs High School in 1948. He attended and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree.

He married the former Mary Jo Henderson at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Notre Dame, Ind., on June 4, 1956.

Kershisnik was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served from June of 1948 until June of 1952.

He was partner/owner of Excelsior Motors and also broker/owner of ERA The Homefinders in Rock Springs.

A member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Kershisnik was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, B.P.O. Elks Lodge and the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jo Kershisnik of Rock Springs; four sons Tim Kershisnik and wife Terri of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Dan Kershisnik of Rock Springs, Pat Kershisnik and wife Frances of Boise, Idaho, and Michael Kershisnik and wife Erin of Olympia, Wash.; four daughters Joan Kershisnik Bayes and devoted partner Joel Cribb of Mesquite, Texas, Angela Kershisnik Rutledge and husband Rick of Elizabethtown, Kent., Elizabeth "Bess" Kershisnik and husband Tim Draper of DeKalb, Illinois and Julia Kershisnik Sweedler and husband Steve of Shorewood, Ill.; one brother Donald Kershisnik and wife Renee of Northridge, Calif.; 23 grandchildren Thomas, Kevin, Kathleen, Emma, Elizabeth, Mary, Madeleine, Sarah, Will, Jack, Grace, Rebecca, Ben, Eli, Francesca, Caroline, Angela (Elle), Halle, Angela, Tristan, Lincoln, Emrys and Kyra; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Kershisnik; two sisters, Angela Pipkin and Cecelia Thomas and one grandson, Henry (Hal) Kershisnik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs, Wy. A vigil service with rosary will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the vigil service on Sunday and on Monday one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers; Young At Heart Community Center, Hospice or the charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to 210 Aspen Way, Rock Springs, Wy.
