Linda M. Doty, 67, of Green River, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at her home. A long time resident of Green River and former resident of Anita, Iowa, Doty died following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 24, 1948, in Anita, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helen Briles Atwood.
Doty attended schools in Burns, Wyo., and was a 1967 graduate of the Burns High School.
She married Paul L. Doty, Jr. in Cheyenne July 29, 1968.
Doty was employed by Sweetwater County School District No. 2 for many years as a nurses aid.
She later worked as a Community Education Assistant at Western Wyoming Community College until ill health forced her retirement.
She was a member of the Lions Club and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxilary. She was also a member of Golden Hour Senior Citizen's Center and had served as a board member.
Her interests included camping, cooking, arts and crafts but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Paul L. Doty, Jr. of Green River; one son Michael Doty of Green River; one daughter Audra Sutton and husband Glenn of Green River; two brothers Bill Atwood and Dean Atwood both of Cheyenne; four grandchildren Rylie Sutton, Faith Sutton, Dalton Bergstrom and Brodie Sutton; two cousins that are like her sisters Deborah Wall and Nancy Brumbaugh; one niece Patty McClure.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Helen Atwood; one brother John W. Atwood and one sister Carol Atwood.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hilltop Baptist Church, 405 Faith Drive, Green River, Wy.
Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to services.
Graveside Services and Inurnment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens in Cheyenne, Wyoming at a later date.
