GRHS girls swimmers have put up a tough fight against competitors so far. This weekend, they swam against Cheyenne East and Laramie, and lost.
“We had some OK swims,” Coach Coleen Seiloff said. “I think the girls have been working really hard and they’re tired, and so they’re swimming the way that we expect them to at this time of the year.”
Laramie is a really competitive team this year, Seiloff said. They are good competition.
“They are pretty comparable to us I think, as far as quality goes,” Seiloff said. “We go up against them, it’s kind of who knows who will win on any particular day.”
The GRHS team she says has been progressing really well through the season. This year’s group of girls has been working very hard.
“I think they’re fantastic for being such a young group of girls,” Seiloff said.
The girls swimmers will compete against Gillette Friday and Saturday; the Gillette Invite. It will be a large meet and many teams competing. Teams from around the state swim at the Gillette Invite, which makes the upcoming meet a good indication of how the rest of the season will progress.
“We’re really preparing for the end of this week, and when we get to Gillette, we’re hoping to pick up some additional qualifiers (for State), and just get some time improvements and get that experience swimming in that State pool for some of these young girls.”
State Swimming will also be hosted in Gillette, Oct. 30, 31. The Gillette Invite will be a good experience for the team to prepare for State. They will see who they will be up against, and see where they lie and what they can do for what lies ahead.
