Michael Valentine Koritnik, 60, of Rock Springs, passed away Aug. 19, 2015 at his home. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Koritnik died following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1954 in Rock Springs, the son of Valentine Martin Koritnik and Helen Josephine Marcina.
Koritnik attended schools in Rock Springs and was a Rock Springs High School graduate with the class of 1973 and attended University of Wyoming from 1976 to 1979.
He married Tara Lynn Allen on Aug. 19, 1976 in Rock Springs at the Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
Koritnik was employed at Jim Bridger Power Plant from 1979 and retired as a control operator in July of 2007.
His interests included boating, fishing, hunting and rock collecting. He also enjoyed spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Tara Allen Koritnik of Rock Springs; his mother Helen Koritnik of Rock Springs; two daughters, Kari-Lyn Koritnik and companion Joseph Campbell and Katie Ann Koritnik and companion Brad Stassinos, all of Rock Springs; brother Greg Koritnik and wife Cissy of Rock Springs; sister Valerie Fieseler and husband Terry of Rock Springs; four grandchildren, T.J. Whalen of Casper, Franko Shiflar, Kaden and Ericka Campbell, all of Rock Springs; several nieces and nephews; his many friends including John Kessock and Gary Pedri.
He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law Gary Allen.
Memorial services took place today.
